There are no direct flights from the UK; the most common connection is via Madrid, Amsterdam or São Paulo to Montevideo (Carrasco Airport, MVD).They can combine the trip with neighbouring countries, for example: Brazil and Argentina.A great plan is to fly to Rio de Janeiro from London (direct flight with British Airways), explore the famous beaches of Ipanema, enjoy some caipirinhas, and get a tan for the wedding. From Rio de Janeiro, you can find direct flights (3 hours) to Montevideo with JetSMART (a low-cost airline, similar to Ryanair but not nearly as bad).To return to the United Kingdom, you can travel via Madrid from Montevideo or take a ferry from Montevideo or Colonia to Buenos Aires and visit the capital of Argentina.From there, you can explore some of the most beautiful places in the country, such as Iguazu Falls, Patagonia, Mendoza (home to some of the world's finest wines), and the north with its friendly people. You can reach all these destinations on airlines like JetSMART, which offers affordable flights.From Buenos Aires, you can return to the United Kingdom via Amsterdam or Paris.From Montevideo, you can also explore Chile with a very affordable flight to the capital, Santiago. Chile is beautiful; you can visit the spectacular Atacama Desert and combine it with the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, one of my favorite places in South America, or head south to explore Patagonia. From Santiago, you can fly directly to London with British Airways.My sincerest recommendation: if you're taking a vacation to share this wonderful event with us, take the opportunity to visit my country, obviously, but also some other South American countries. You'll find warm, friendly, and hospitable people, as well as unique landscapes and a culture completely different from European culture.The sooner you book your flights, the cheaper they will be.
